RAWALPINDI: Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Chief Minister (CM) Ali Amin Gandapur, Shah Mehmood Qureshi and 12 others were indicted in the May 9 General Headquarters (GHQ) attack case.

The hearing of the May 9 GHQ attack case took place on Thursday at Adiala Jail, Rawalpindi. The founder of Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) was presented in the courtroom. Shah Mehmood Qureshi was brought from Kot Lakhpat Jail and presented in Adiala Jail.

The Anti-Terrorism Court (ATC) has adjourned the hearing of the case until December 21.

Shehryar Afridi, Colonel Shabbir Awan, Latasab Satti, Umar Tanveer Butt, Shibli Faraz, Kanwal Shauzab, Taimoor Masood, Saad Ali Khan, Sikandar Zaib, Zohaib Afridi, Fahad Masood, and Raja Nasser Mehmood have been indicted in the case.

Gandapur, Shehryar Afridi, and Shauzab have filed applications under Section 265-D of CrPC, which the Anti-Terrorism Court has scheduled for a hearing on Friday (tomorrow) in Adiala Jail.

Additionally, Gandapur appointed Advocate Ghulam Hasnain Sumbal as his pleader in the case and in 12 other cases related to May 9.

Section 265-D of the Criminal Procedure Code indicates that to frame a charge, the Court should consult the police report, complaint, documents, and statements filed by the prosecution and nothing else.

Earlier this month, the anti-terrorism court inducted PTI founder Imran Khan among 100 others related to the attack on the GHQ during the May 9 violent protests last year.

ATC also declared 23 individuals, including Zulfi Bukhari, Shehbaz Gill, Murad Saeed, and Hammad Azhar as proclaimed absconders and issued their permanent arrest warrants in the case.
