KARACHI: Pakistan People’s Party (PPP) Chairman Bilawal Bhutto Zardari, during his online address on PPP’s 57th Foundation Day, said, “Shaheed Zulfikar Ali Bhutto’s legacy is the solution to all problems.” He is confident that the ideology and vision of Zulfiqar Ali Bhutto remain the solution to Pakistan’s challenges.
He talked about the sacrifices and contributions of his party, spanning three generations, in shaping Pakistan’s political and social landscape.
Bilawal praised the vision and efforts of PPP founder Zulfiqar Ali Bhutto, who laid the foundation for democracy in Pakistan. He credited him for giving the country its constitution, initiating the nuclear program, and introducing the slogan “Roti, Kapra, aur Makaan” (food, clothing, and shelter).
Speaking about his mother, Shaheed Benazir Bhutto, Bilawal acknowledged her resilience in facing conspiracies and dictatorships. He underscored her historic role as the first female Prime Minister of Pakistan and her unwavering dedication to the poor. “Benazir Bhutto fought bravely against two dictators and stood firm against terrorism,” he said, adding that her policies benefited the underprivileged and created job opportunities.
Bilawal also discussed the challenges the PPP has faced, including attempts to weaken the party and sideline it politically. Despite these efforts, he noted that the PPP continues to play a key role in the National Assembly and Senate, prioritising decisions for the people and the country.
The PPP chairman pointed to political instability as Pakistan’s biggest issue, stressing that addressing terrorism and the economic crisis requires stability. He criticised certain opposition parties for not adhering to democratic and political norms, highlighting incidents like the May 9 attacks as examples of actions beyond the realm of politics.
Bilawal urged all political players to work within democratic boundaries, stating that both the government and the opposition share the responsibility of ensuring political stability.
