ISLAMABAD: Belarus President Aleksandr Lukashenko landed in Islamabad on Monday on his official three-day visit, a day after the 68-member delegation from Belarus arrived.

The Belarusian President was welcomed by Prime Minster Shehbaz Sharif at the Nur Khan Airbase in Rawalpindi. Children presented bouquets to welcome the state guest.

The premier was accompanied by his deputy and Foreign Minister Ishaq Dar, Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi, and Information Minister Attaullah Tarar.

The visit of the high-level delegation led by President Lukashenko comes after Islamabad and Minsk in September agreed in principle to sign a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) to establish a trade roadmap for 2025-2027.

According to the Foreign Office press release, “President Lukashenko will hold extensive talks with Prime Minister Muhammad Shehbaz Sharif and discuss areas of bilateral cooperation and engagement.”

Several Agreements and MoUs will also be signed during the visit, the statement read.

On Sunday, the 68-member high-level delegation including Belarus’s ministers for energy, justice, transport, natural resources, and emergency situations, as well as the chairman of the Military Industry Committee and 43 prominent business personalities landed in Pakistan.
