ISLAMABAD: The hearing of the £190 million reference against Pakistan Tehrik-e-Insaf (PTI) founder Imran Khan and his wife Bushra Bibi has been adjourned without proceedings due to security threats at Adiala Jail.

Judge Nasir Javed Rana of the Accountability Court Islamabad was scheduled to hold the hearing at Adiala Jail on Wednesday. However, jail authorities requested a postponement, citing security concerns.

In their application, jail officials noted that Adiala Jail is the most sensitive prison in the province, housing several important political figures. They highlighted security threats to prisons in Mianwali, Dera Ghazi Khan, Rawalpindi, and Attock, as reported by the Punjab government.

The jail authorities’ letter requested that the accountability court adjourn the hearing scheduled for today. Accepting this request, the court has postponed the hearing until May 17.

At the end of February, an accountability court indicted Imran Khan and Bushra Bibi in the high-profile £190 million case, also known as the Al-Qadir Trust case. All hearings involving the former PTI chairman are being conducted at the jail due to persistent security threats.
