By WEB DESK: Lin Jian, during the Chinese Foreign Ministry Spokesperson briefing on Tuesday, June 11, 2024, provided insights into Pakistani Prime Minister Shehbaz’s Sharif recent visit to China.
PM Shahbaz’s visit, occurring from June 4 to 8, marked his first official trip to China as Prime Minister of Pakistan. China accorded him a warm reception, with President Xi Jinping, Premier Li Qiang, and Chairman Zhao Leji hosting meetings and discussions with him.
The discussions between the leaders encompassed a wide array of topics, including deepening the enduring strategic cooperative partnership between China and Pakistan. President Xi Jinping emphasised the steadfast nature of this partnership, highlighting China’s unwavering support for Pakistan and the commitment to bolster cooperation across various domains. Prime Minister Shahbaz echoed this sentiment, affirming Pakistan’s staunch allegiance to its friendship with China.

Furthermore, both sides lauded the constructive role played by the China-Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC) in advancing Pakistan’s national development and enhancing the well-being of its citizens.
Moreover, they pledged to further elevate the quality and efficacy of CPEC by aligning it with Pakistan’s development agenda. Additionally, Pakistan reiterated its condemnation of the March 26 Dasu terrorist attack, pledging to take stringent measures to ensure the safety of Chinese personnel and assets within its borders.
In addition, Pakistan commended President Xi Jinping’s visionary leadership, particularly his initiatives such as the Belt and Road initiative. Both nations vowed to strengthen cooperation within international forums to promote global multi-polarization and inclusive economic globalization.
The visit saw the signing of 23 cooperation agreements spanning diverse sectors including CPEC, transportation infrastructure, agriculture, and media. Prime Minister Shahbaz also seized the opportunity to visit cities like Shenzhen and Xi’an, where he commended China’s socioeconomic progress and expressed eagerness to enhance governance exchanges between the two nations
