Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif has announced cash prize for every player of the national hockey team following their brilliant performance during the Azlan Shah hockey cup.
According to details, the Prime Minister announced Rs1 million for each member of the hockey team that won the silver medal in the tournament held in Malaysia. The announcement was made hours after the team landed in Lahore, where they were warmly welcomed by Rana Mashhood, chairman of chairman of PM’s Youth Program, and hundreds of fans.
The Pakistan Hockey Federation (PHF) expressed gratitude to PM Shehbaz Sharif for his generous announcement for the players. “Thanks to the PM’s announcement of 18 million PKR (1 million cash for each player), for our Silver medalist Pakistan Hockey Team at the Sultan Azlan Shah Cup feels honored and appreciated for their hard work and dedication,” the PHF said.

The PFH further added that the “gesture not only acknowledges their exceptional performance but also serves as a motivating force for them to continue striving for excellence on the international stage.”
Japan won against Pakistan in a penalty shootout after a thrilling 2-2 draw in the 2024 Azlan Shah Hockey Cup final in Ipoh on Saturday. This marked Pakistan’s first final appearance since 2011, showcasing their commendable performances throughout the tournament.
