ISLAMABAD: Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif has appealed to the nation to offer Namaz-e-Istisqa (prayer for rain) for much-needed rainfall as smog choked Punjab especially Lahore.
In a statement on Thursday, the premier urged religious scholars and leaders to play their role in organizing Salat al-Istisqa. “The rain would improve the environment and greatly help get rid of diseases,” he said.
“I request the nation to offer Namaz-e-Istisqa and pray earnestly for the blessing of rain,” PM Shehbaz said in a statement. He further added that Salat al-Istisqa should be organized in all mosques across the country, including those under the federal and provincial governments.
The Prime Minister said special prayers should be made to Allah so that human life can be relieved of this problem. “In these trying times, there is an urgent need for divine intervention in the form of rain,” he concluded.
