Gamers attempting to log into PlayStation Network (PSN) services on Monday night were met with widespread outages, affecting millions of players globally. Sony’s gaming network, which supports the PlayStation 5, PlayStation 4, and older systems, has been hit by a significant disruption, preventing users from launching games, apps, and utilizing network features.

The outage, which began around 9:21 PM ET, has been confirmed by Sony on the official PSN Service Status page. “You might have difficulty launching games, apps, or network features. We’re working to resolve the issue as soon as possible. Thank you for your patience,” the statement read. The issue affects all systems, including PS Vita, PS3, PS4, and PS5, along with web-based services.

As the outage persists, players are unable to sign in or access multiplayer features. Single-player games that require online sign-in have also been rendered unplayable, leaving many gamers frustrated. Error codes such as “WS-116522-7” have been reported, with Sony directing users to check for system software updates — though this has not resolved the problem.

The exact cause of the outage remains unknown, and Sony has not provided an estimated time for the resolution. This disruption follows the resolution of a separate bug earlier in the day that impacted home screen artwork for PS5 games. However, it is unclear whether the two issues are connected.

Sony’s network outage has sparked concern among its massive gaming community, but offline single-player experiences remain accessible in the interim. Gamers are urged to stay tuned for further updates as Sony works to restore full functionality to its services.
