ISLAMABAD: Pakistan’s top military commanders vowed on Thursday to bring the planners, perpetrators, abettors, and facilitators of the May 9 incidents to justice for the country’s collective good.
Conclusion of the 83rd Formation Commanders’ Conference
The Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR) statement followed the conclusion of the 83rd Formation Commanders’ Conference. Chief of Army Staff (COAS) General Asim Munir presided over the conference at General Headquarters in Rawalpindi.
Tribute to Shuhadas
The forum offered Fatiha and paid tribute to the supreme sacrifices of Shuhadas, including officers, Armed Forces personnel, Law Enforcement Agencies, and citizens who laid down their lives for Pakistan’s safety, security, and sovereignty.
Geo-Strategic Briefing
The forum received a briefing on the dynamics of the geo-strategic environment, emerging national security challenges, and the Army’s strategy to counter multi-domain threats. Participants also learned about technological innovations to modernize the Army and optimize logistic support for field formations.
Concerns Over Cross-Border Violations
The forum expressed serious concerns over continued cross-border violations from Afghanistan. They noted that Pakistan’s adversaries use Afghan soil to target Security Forces and civilians inside Pakistan. The forum acknowledged the sacrifices of the people of Newly Merged Districts (NMDs) in the war against terrorism and emphasized the importance of uplifting the NMDs to defeat terrorism decisively.
Socio-Economic Development in Balochistan
The forum underlined the need for socio-economic development in Balochistan to counter externally propagated narratives of exclusion. These narratives are exploited by foreign-sponsored proxies to mislead Balochistan’s youth away from peace and progress.
Solidarity with Kashmir and Palestine
Reviewing the situation on the Eastern Border and the latest round of extra-judicial murders in IIOJK, the forum expressed solidarity with the Kashmiri people in their just struggle for self-determination. The forum also showed concern over the treatment of minorities, especially Muslims, in India and noted growing fascism for political gains. Additionally, the forum expressed solidarity with the people of Palestine, condemning human rights violations in Gaza, and supporting the International Court of Justice decision to stop the Rafah Operation and all other operations within Gaza.
Addressing Digital Terrorism
The forum underscored that politically motivated digital terrorism, unleashed by conspirators with foreign support, aims to induce despondency and sow discord among national institutions. They emphasized that the nation recognizes these nefarious motives and will defeat them comprehensively.
Commitment to Justice
The forum stressed the need to bring the planners, perpetrators, abettors, and facilitators of May 9 to justice for the country’s collective good. They noted that swift and transparent justice is essential for stability and the rule of law.
Support for Government Initiatives
The forum resolved to support government initiatives for sustainable economic growth and curbing illegal activities, including smuggling, hoarding, electricity theft, implementation of the One Document Regime, dignified repatriation of illegal foreigners, and safeguarding the national database.
COAS Commendations
The COAS appreciated the high standard of training displayed by formations during various exercises and the excellent performance of officers and troops in counter-terrorism operations. He commended the formations for their high morale and operational readiness. Participants expressed satisfaction with the Army’s steps for the training, administration, and welfare of serving and retired personnel.
Affirmation of Resolve
The Conference concluded by affirming the resolve to neutralize all threats to the country’s security and stability with the full backing of the proud nation.
