Pakistan International Airlines’ (PIA) Deputy Station Manager in Birmingham, Iqbal Javed Bajwa, has stepped down following revelations that his educational certificates were forged.
According to a PIA spokesperson, Bajwa, reportedly the brother of former army chief General (retd) Qamar Javed Bajwa, was asked to resign after investigations confirmed that his Intermediate certificate was fake.
Moreover, Bajwa received a show-cause notice on July 13, 2024, requiring him to prove the authenticity of his degree within seven days or face termination, in accordance with PIA’s Employees Disciplinary Policy 2019.

The Board of Intermediate and Secondary Education Lahore confirmed that Bajwa’s roll number 25703 did not match their records, leading to the discovery.
The resignation follows a directive issued last year by the national carrier, mandating all employees to submit verified educational documents. Bajwa, a long-serving employee who joined PIA in 1977, held a position in the airline’s UK office since the late 1980s.
