PHC Chief Justice States Criticism from Political Parties Came at a High Cost

During a full court reference ceremony honouring him, Chief Justice Muhammad Ibrahim Khan of the Peshawar High Court shared insights into his tenure, emphasising the hurdles and victories experienced throughout his judicial career.

Reflecting on his service, CJ Khan acknowledged facing criticism from political parties for judgements he deemed lawful. He lamented the repercussions he endured due to these decisions.

Asserting his commitment to upholding the law, CJ Khan stated his willingness to be held accountable on the Day of Judgment if anyone believed his rulings deviated from legal principles.

Revealing statistics from his 31-year tenure, he noted having delivered around 15,000 judgements, with only 509 being contested in the Supreme Court. Impressively, 279 of these rulings were upheld by the higher court, showcasing the integrity and rigor of his judicial work.

“I bore significant consequences for those decisions,” he revealed. Additionally, he reminisced about being the 10th most senior judge of the high court when he was entrusted with the Army Public School inquiry.
