The Punjab Disaster Management Authority (PDMA) has issued a warning about potential severe flooding, with pre-monsoon rains forecasted to begin on June 19. The PDMA has expressed concern over a significant increase in rainfall this season, predicting a 35 percent rise in precipitation compared to previous years.
According to the PDMA, the monsoon outlook suggests a possibility of 35 per cent more rain than usual across the country. This increase in rainfall could exacerbate the flood situation, particularly in Punjab, making it worse than the floods experienced in 2022.
The PDMA’s weather alert indicates that the province will experience hot and dry conditions from June 16 to 18, followed by widespread thundershowers from June 18 to 22. Notably, South Punjab is expected to receive significant rainfall from June 20 to 22.
