The Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) is launching a new initiative to construct a world-class, modern cricket stadium in Islamabad.
The Federal Minister for Interior, also Chairman of the PCB, has instructed the Federal Development Authority (CDA) to quickly provide a viable plan for constructing the new stadium. The PCB Chairman proposed that the project be a joint effort between the PCB and the CDA.
The proposed stadium plan is separate from the preparations for hosting the Champions Trophy next year.
The PCB aims to build the stadium as part of its long-term strategy, addressing the fact that Pakistan is the only major cricketing nation without an international cricket stadium in its capital.

Sources from the Federal Development Authority revealed that Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi has reviewed the preliminary plan for the cricket stadium with the CDA Chairman. The CDA is set to finalize land identification and other details before presenting the final plan to the Interior Minister.
The PCB has previously tried several times to establish an international cricket stadium in Islamabad. Despite multiple considerations and meetings involving the federal government and the PCB, the project has remained in the planning stage.
