WEB DESK: The Pakistan Cricket Board’s (PCB) medical panel has addressed recent statements made by Multan Sultans’ owner Ali Tareen regarding fast bowler Ihsanullah’s injury and treatment.
Ihsanullah, renowned for his impressive pace in the previous Pakistan Super League season, sustained an elbow injury following the series against New Zealand. The injury resulted in his absence from significant events such as the Asia Cup and World Cup.
According to reports, Tareen disclosed that Ihsanullah’s recovery process was prolonged due to an initial misdiagnosis and an unsuccessful surgery in Lahore. However, he acknowledged the PCB’s cooperation in facilitating assessments by specialists in the UK.
In response, PCB’s Director of Medical and Sports Sciences, Dr Sohail Saleem, clarified that while there was a misinterpretation of the initial MRI report, there was no misdiagnosis.

Dr Saleem talked about the necessity of reevaluating the MRI in England, which yielded different results from the initial assessment, without requiring additional scans.
Moreover, Dr Saleem highlighted that the typical recovery period for elbow injuries post-surgery ranges from nine to eighteen months. He asserted that Ihsanullah is receiving appropriate care during rehabilitation and dismissed any allegations of neglect.
Additionally, he underscored the significance of collaboration between PSL franchises and the PCB for the well-being and recovery of players.
