The Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) has announced the postponement of the important first-class cricket tournament, the Quaid-e-Azam Trophy.
Initially scheduled to begin on October 20, the tournament’s start has been delayed due to unresolved details regarding this season.
Sources indicate that new dates for the Quaid-e-Azam Trophy are expected to be announced soon, as the PCB’s domestic department awaits approval from Chairman Mohsin Naqvi.
Regional teams were set to participate, and players from various regions had been preparing diligently for the tournament. However, neither the final teams nor the schedule has been confirmed yet.
This is not the first time the PCB has altered the domestic cricket schedule. Recently, the Under-19 tournament was halted on its opening day and subsequently postponed.

The PCB’s domestic department has also signaled to departments to be prepared for the President’s Trophy as a backup plan. Sources suggest that if further delays occur in the Quaid-e-Azam Trophy, the first-class tournament for departments will be held first, which was initially scheduled to start on January 6.
This situation has raised concerns among cricket fans and players in Pakistan, as the tournament holds significant importance for the promotion of domestic cricket in the country. The PCB’s decision reflects its priority for conducting quality cricket, but it must also keep fan interest alive.
