The Inter Boards Coordination Commission (IBCC) announced on Tuesday that the passing marks for students will be increased from 33% to 40%, effective from the next academic year.
During a press conference at his office, IBCC Executive Director Dr. Ghulam Ali Mallah announced that students will now be granted grace marks in exams as part of an educational reform initiative.
He stated that a sub-committee meeting at the Karachi Secondary Education Board reviewed various proposals and decided that all educational boards across the country would now be required to provide seven grace marks to students.

The passing marks will be raised from 33 to 40 for the upcoming academic year. Furthermore, the commission has decided to move away from an open-choice exam format to a close-choice format, providing students with 100 per cent options.
In a separate news, the Sindh Department of College Education has extended the deadline for Class XI online admissions to August 31, 2024. This is a final opportunity for students to submit their applications.
This decision comes in response to widespread internet disruptions that have hindered the application process.
