The CEO of Lahore Electric Supply Company (LESCO) has proposed promoting Pakistani javelin thrower Arshad Nadeem to Grade 19 in recognition of his Olympic achievements.
A proposal to promote Olympian Arshad Nadeem to Grade 19 will be presented to the Lesco board of directors in their meeting on Monday. Nadeem, who joined LESCO in 2011 as a sportsman in Grade 7, has advanced to Grade 18, the highest grade for a sportsman in the company.
LESCO has announced that Arshad Nadeem, currently serving as a line foreman at the Bhati Gate sub-division in Lahore, is set to be recommended for promotion to Grade 19. This will be the first time in the company’s history that a sportsman has been proposed for such a promotion.

The recommendation will be discussed in a board of directors’ meeting scheduled for Monday.
LESCO Chief Executive Engineer Shahid Haider stated that under company rules, sportsmen can only be promoted up to Grade 18, which Arshad Nadeem has already achieved. However, the LESCO board of directors has the authority to approve a promotion to Grade 19.
Haider added that if the board approves this recommendation, Nadeem could be upgraded to the position of assistant manager.
