Pakistani researcher killed in Portugal, resisting robbery

WEB DESK: A young Pakistani researcher, Anthony Shoukat, hailing from Lahore, lost his life while resisting a robbery attempt in Porto, Portugal reported by GEO News on Friday.

Family members have identified Shoukat Anthony, he had gone for a research project for Shaukat Khanum Memorial Hospital.

They appealed to the government to help bring the body back at the earliest and bring the culprits to justice.

Moreover, his family said Anthony had completed his master’s degree in Sweden and pursued his PhD in Germany.

The tragedy echoes another recent incident in March, where Fahimuddin, a Pakistani-German resident, fell victim to a fatal knife attack in the city of Ulm, Germany. Fahimuddin, who had migrated from Karachi’s Azizabad neighborhood, had made Germany his home before the tragic incident unfolded.

According to Ahmed Saeed, a close friend of Fahimuddin, the assailant targeted Fahimuddin’s family before fatally attacking him, leaving his wife and daughters critically injured. While Fahimuddin’s neighbors and friends mourn his loss, the assailant responsible for this heinous act is currently receiving medical treatment in a hospital.

Fahimuddin’s neighbors and friends are also saddened by his death. Fahim spent many memorable moments with us. The condition of Fahimuddin’s wife and daughters is critical, while two of their daughters managed to save themselves by hiding.
