The latest Henley Passport Index has yet again placed the Pakistani passport at a lowly 100th position, marking its fourth consecutive year in this rank. Pakistani citizens can travel to 33 countries without needing a visa in advance, according to the index.
The Henley Passport Index assesses passports from 199 countries based on the number of destinations their holders can visit without a prior visa. The ranking is compiled using data from the International Air Transport Association (IATA).
The Pakistani passport’s 100th position ties it with Yemen, and it remains ahead of Iraq (101), Syria (102), and Afghanistan (103). This ranking has been consistent with last year’s.
Among other passports with low rankings are Iran and Sudan, both at 94th place; Eritrea at 95th; North Korea at 96th; Bangladesh and Palestine at 97th; Libya and Nepal at 98th; and Somalia at 99th.
In contrast, India holds the 82nd spot, allowing visa-free access to 58 countries.
