WEB DESK: Shahid Hussain, a 23-year-old from Chitral, Pakistan, has married 18-year-old Flores Sarah from the United States. The couple, who met and built their relationship through the popular online game PUBG, tied the knot after a three-year virtual courtship.
The traditional wedding ceremony took place at a private hotel in Chitral, where Maulana Khaliq-uz-Zaman, the khatib of Shah Mosque, officiated the Nikah. Sarah’s mother attended the event, and the marriage was conducted with Sarah’s full consent. Sarah, whose name is already Islamic, did not need to change it.
Raisuddin, a resident, confirmed the couple’s relationship and mentioned that Sarah received her mother’s approval for the marriage. The wedding followed local customs, with Sarah in traditional bridal attire and her mother dressed in the region’s cultural clothing. Women from nearby areas also attended the celebration.
This unique love story highlights the growing trend of cross-cultural relationships formed through online gaming and social media, leading to marriages that bridge geographical divides.
