WEB DESK: The social media platform ‘X’, formerly known as Twitter, has released a statement addressing the suspension issues in Pakistan. They have affirmed their ongoing collaboration with the pertinent authorities to address and resolve the concerns raised.

A statement issued by X’s Global Government Affairs team said, “We continue to work with the Pakistani Government to understand their concern”.

On Wednesday, the Sindh High Court issued a directive to the government, instructing them to restore access to the platform within one week.

According to Alp Toker from NetBlocks, access to X has been inconsistent, with periods of availability dependent on the internet service provider. This has led users to resort to using virtual private networks (VPNs) for access.

Since February 17, the social media platform, acquired by American tech billionaire Elon Musk in April 2022, has been under suspension in the country. The suspension came shortly after the general elections in Pakistan on February 8, sparking discussions regarding the fairness and transparency of the polls. Users faced difficulties accessing the site, although the government of Pakistan did not issue any official comments on the matter.
