KARACHI: For the first time in Pakistan, Amerigo Vespucci, the world’s most beautiful ship docked at Karachi Port on Saturday during a world tour today.

The 93-year-old Italian naval training ship will stay at the Karachi Port from December 7 to 8.

The marvel of Italian seafaring tradition, named after the famous Italian navigator, arrived at the 29th port in Pakistan before sailing to Doha, where the ship will be exhibited from December 17 to 22.

The Italian Ambassador to Pakistan, the Italian Consul in Karachi, and various local government and military officials welcomed Amerigo Vespucci.

Launched on July 1, 2023, from Genoa, Italy, the vessel is currently undertaking its second global circumnavigation, which will span two years and visit 36 ports across 32 countries.

The Amerigo Vespucci, guardian of the most ancient naval and seafaring traditions for over ninety years, is one of the most well-known symbols of Italy in the world.

Vespucci, named after the explorer who gave his name to America, entered service in 1931. Some 2,700 square meters of sails are tied to its three masts, and it has a crew of over 260 sailors, supplemented by trainees.
