WEB DESK: A Pakistan International Airlines (PIA) air hostess has been arrested by customs authorities for smuggling foreign currency concealed in her socks at Allama Iqbal International Airport in Lahore.
The PIA air hostess, offloaded from a Jeddah-bound flight, was found with US dollars and Saudi Riyals worth millions of rupees in Pakistani currency. Customs authorities and Federal Investigation Agency (FIA) immigration officials acted on suspicion, leading to the discovery of the concealed currency.
Deputy Collector of Customs Raja Bilal reported that the recovered amount included $37,318 and 40,000 Saudi Riyals, hidden in the air hostess’s socks.

Following the search, the female cabin crew member was handed over to the investigation team, and a case was registered against her.
DC Customs Raja Bilal told the media that all necessary measures are being implemented to curb currency smuggling, as directed by the Prime Minister and the Chairman of the Federal Board of Revenue (FBR).
A video circulating on social media showed the air hostess removing the currency from her socks. Top officials of PIA have been informed about the incident involving currency smuggling by air hostesses.
