Director General Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR) Lieutenant General Ahmed Sharif Chaudhry on Monday said that Recently, there has been an increase in fabricated news against the armed forces.

While answering a question about operation Azm-e-Istehkam, DG ISPR said is not a military operation.

He stated that 22,409 intelligence-based operations were carried out against terrorists and their facilitators.

Additionally, he mentioned that more than 112 operations are conducted daily by the military and law enforcement agencies to combat terrorism.

He further stated that our issue lies in sacrificing crucial matters on the altar of politics, with the Azm-i-Istehkam being a prime example of this.

There would be no more displacements due to Azm-e-Istehkam: DG ISPR

The DG ISPR, addressing concerns about the campaign, stated that there are no no-go areas in the country. He clarified that there will be no further displacements due to Azm-e-Istehkam.

Discussing the Bannu unrest, the DG ISPR stated that terrorists fired upon protesters, leading to the death of innocent individuals. He referenced last week’s terrorist attack on Bannu Cantonment, which resulted in the martyrdom of eight military personnel.

He further said: “I will start by saying that our problem is that we are sacrificing even very important issues on the altar of politics and Azm-i-Istehkam is one such example of this.”

There is no accountability for fake news: DG ISPR

The DG ISPR stated that in Pakistan, there is a lack of accountability for fake news. He noted that people on the internet spread propaganda and misinformation related to the army in the country.

He said: “The problem is that unfortunately fake news and propaganda have become so common and there is no accountability for it.”

Digital terrorism can only be controlled through regulation and monitoring: DG ISPR

He gave an example of how digital terrorism is controlled in Western countries. He also stressed the need to handle this issue urgently, warning that if not addressed, it could lead to serious problems.

The target of digital terrorism is the Pakistan Army: DG ISPR

He noted that digital terrorism mainly targets the Pakistan Army and again urged to control it.
