US reduces visa waiting time for Pakistanis

The US Embassy in Pakistan has announced a major reduction in visa appointment waiting times for Pakistani students, cutting the period from 440 days to 230 days.

This change is intended to tackle the longstanding backlog and speed up the visa processing system. Pakistani students applying for a US visa frequently experience lengthy delays due to factors such as the consulate’s workload, seasonal fluctuations, and individual application details.

This reduction in waiting time provides considerable relief for students aiming to pursue their education in the United States.

The US Embassy’s initiative is part of a broader effort to streamline the visa processing system. The embassy is now handling about 10,000 visa applications monthly, with a special focus on student visas.

The reduction in appointment times affects multiple visa categories, including tourism, business, and student visas. In 2023, the US Embassy processed a record number of visa applications, highlighting its improved operational efficiency.

To further reduce delays, the embassy has added more consular officers and is prioritizing immigrant visa applications.
