ISLAMABAD: Pakistan’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs spokesperson expressed deep concern at the proposed transfer of United States military technology to India in a press briefing on Friday.

Foreign Office spokesperson Shafqat Ali Khan urged the international partners to take a comprehensive and objective view of the issues of peace and security in South Asia and refrain from endorsing one-sided, misleading, and contrary to diplomatic norms.

The remarks came a day after President Donald Trump said, “We’ll be increasing military sales to India by many billions of dollars. We’re also paving the way to provide India with the F-35 stealth fighters,” in a joint news conference with Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi in Washington.

Shafqat Ali said, “Pakistan reference in the Indo-US joint statement cannot cover up India’s sponsorship of terrorism, subversion, and extrajudicial assassinations in the region and beyond.”

US President Donald Trump announced that his administration had approved the extradition of Tahawwur Rana, a Canadian Pakistani national, wanted by Indian agencies for his role in the 26/11 Mumbai terror attacks.

Responding to the allegations, the FO spokesperson remarked on rising hate crimes in India against Muslims and other minorities and also India’s non-compliance to United Nations Security Council (UNSC) resolutions.
