ISLAMABAD: Pakistan and the United Arab Emirates (UAE) have reached an agreement to allow two more airlines’ services between the two countries.

Pakistan’s envoy to the UAE, Faisal Niaz Tirmizi, told Gulf News that the agreement, which includes the flight services of new low-cost airline services, was concluded this week after discussions with UAE officials.

It would enhance connectivity and strengthen the long-standing partnership between Pakistan and UAE.

“As part of this agreement, Pakistan’s AirSial will begin flights from three Pakistani cities to Abu Dhabi while Wizz Air will operate flights between Abu Dhabi and two cities in Pakistan,” said the ambassador.

Such airlines would connect five Pakistani cities with the UAE within two to three months.

The ambassador said that the new services are expected to start in the coming months. The airlines will also announce the final route details and flight schedules very soon.

“This agreement goes beyond just increasing the number of flights. It’s about expanding trade, commerce, and cultural exchange between our two nations.”

the development came days before Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif was scheduled to visit the UAE in February for the World Government Summit.

Currently, eight airlines including Emirates, Etihad Airways, Fly Dubai, PIA, Fly Jinnah, Air Arabia, Serene Air, and Air Blue are operating between the two countries.
