KARAK: Three policemen were martyred and six others sustained bullet injuries when terrorists attacked their checkpost during the early hours of Thursday.
The district police officer said that the attackers, armed with sophisticated weapons, launched a heavy barrage of gunfire at the police station in the city area of Bahadurkhel.
The attack was repulsed by the police with prompt retaliation. However, three cops identified as Adnan and Nakeeb, and Taimour Hayat were martyred while responding to the attack.
The injured were admitted to the district headquarters hospital where three of them were referred to Peshawar for being critical.
The DPO said a search operation was launched to track down the militants.

Police have stepped up security in the area and enhanced patrolling to ensure law and order, with the commitment to arrest the perpetrators as soon as possible.
