A startling discovery has emerged regarding the use of the popular online game PlayerUnknown’s Battlegrounds (PUBG) for coordinating terrorist activities in Pakistan.

Swat District Police Officer (DPO), Dr Zahid, disclosed that three terrorists arrested in Swat were found to be communicating through PUBG’s in-game chat feature. The suspects reportedly formed chat groups within the game to share information and used magnet IDs to coordinate their attacks.

This marks the first known instance of PUBG being used for terrorist purposes. Dr Zahid noted that, after utilising Telegram for communication, terrorist groups have now turned to gaming platforms to conduct their operations.

Further investigation revealed that the arrested terrorists had connections in Afghanistan, signaling the evolving tactics of terrorist networks. This case underscores the increasing misuse of technology by extremist groups for covert communication and operational planning.
