RAWALPINDI: Security forces have killed six khwarij [terrorists], thwarting an infiltration attempt at the Pak-Afghan border, the military’s media wing said in a statement on Thursday.

According to the Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR), security forces picked the movement of a group of khwarij who were trying to infiltrate through the border in the general area Sambaza, Zhob District on January 22-23 night.

“Own troops effectively engaged and thwarted their attempt to infiltrate. Resultantly, six khwarij were sent to hell,” the statement read.

The ISPR statement said that a large quantity of weapons, ammunition & explosives was also recovered.

“Pakistan has consistently been asking the interim Afghan government led by Taliban rulers to ensure effective border management on their side of the border.”

The military also urged the Taliban government to fulfill its obligations and deny the use of Afghan soil by Khwarij for perpetrating acts of terrorism against Pakistan.

“Security Forces of Pakistan remain committed to secure its borders and eliminate the menace of terrorism from the country,” the ISPR added.

Earlier on January 17, security forces conducted an intelligence-based operation (IBO) in the general area of Tirah in Khyber District. 

According to the ISPR, security personnel engaged Khwarji locations on their reported presence, as a result of which, five of them were killed.

The ISPR said that the Kharji ring leader Abidullah, also known as Turab, was sent to hell, while one Kharji was apprehended.

“Weapons and ammunition were also recovered from the khwarij, who remained actively involved in numerous terrorist activities in the area against the security forces as well as killing of innocent civilians,” the statement read.
