KARACHI: The Sindh government has announced a public holiday on December 25 (Wednesday) in all government offices on the occasion of Quaid-e-Azam Day and Christmas.

A notification issued by the provincial government stated “All offices, autonomous bodies, semi-autonomous bodies, corporations, and local councils under the administrative control of the provincial government would be closed except those engaged in essential services.”

In a separate notification, a holiday was announced on December 26 (Thursday) for Christian employees in connection with Christmas.

On December 25, the day will dawn with gun salutes in the federal and provincial capitals after which a graceful changing of the guard’s ceremony will be held at the Quaid-e-Azam’s mausoleum in Karachi.

Official ceremonies and events will be scheduled throughout the country to pay tribute to Quaid’s life, political struggles, and significant role in the creation of Pakistan.

Special programmes have been arranged by various social, political, and non-governmental organisations (NGOs) and forums across the country.
