LAHORE: Pakistan health authorities said that air pollution engulfed most parts of the Pakistan most populace province Punjab have sickened more than 1.9 million in the last month.

According to the report of Punjab Health Department, out of 1934030 people have visited hospitals and private clinics for respiratory diseases in the smog-hit districts of the province in the month of October.

Punjab, the home of 127 million, has been struggling to curb smog since last month.

The report stated that citizens were suffering from respiratory, asthma, heart diseases and stroke due to smog.
Out of the total 1.9 million, one lakh 19 thousand 533 patients had been suffering from asthma and 13, 773 patients from heart diseases.

The report further added that five thousand 184 patients had been suffering from paralysis.

Earlier today, the Lahore High Court (LHC) has directed the Punjab government to make a 10-year policy to eliminate smog.

Meanwhile, addressing Senior Punjab Minister Marriyum Aurangzeb in a pres conference announced that complete lockdown will be imposed in Lahore and Multan from Friday to Sunday, due to smog.

She further said that if needed, the lockdown can be imposed early, she further said that a notification in this regard will be issued earlier.

She said all the construction work in Lahore, and Multan division will be banned, and restaurants in the both cities will be closed at 4pm.

Universities and colleges in Lahore and across Punjab will also transition to online classes, she added.
