RAWALPINDI: The Director Education Officer of Rawalpindi on Saturday imposed a ban on in-person classes at educational institutions until November 24 due to the worsening smog situation in the city.
The heads of educational institutions have been instructed to conduct online classes during this period. The district administration has been tasked with visiting schools and ensuring that the orders are being followed.
All officers are instructed to make visits and confirm that all public and private schools are closed and online classes are conducted. Those found not complying with the orders will face legal action after a report is submitted.
The AQI in Rawalpindi today is 105, which is marked as unhealthy for sensitive individuals.
The Rawalpindi district administration also conducted a crackdown this week on brick kilns and factories operating in violation of smog SOPs, contributing to the widespread smog in the district.
