The Punjab cabinet, under the leadership of Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz, approved a large-scale mass wedding program on Tuesday aimed at supporting 3,000 girls from low-income families across the province.

Each bride will receive Rs100,000 in wedding funds through an ATM card, along with a set of 13 essential items, including furniture, clothes, and dinner sets. During the 17th cabinet meeting, the chief minister directed authorities to expand the program’s scope to reach more families in need.

The meeting also approved the allotment of 100,000 acres of land on a lease basis for landless farmers. The land will be leased for three to five years, allowing for temporary cultivation.

In addition to the wedding program, an e-bus service scheme was approved. In its first phase, 27 buses will be introduced, with plans for 680 electric buses to operate across Punjab by the end of the year. The buses will be charged using solar panels, with a 1.2 MW system installed in parking lots.

Other initiatives discussed included a proposed electric taxi service in Lahore, the monitoring of flour and chicken prices, and the distribution of Kisan cards to 170,000 farmers. Approval was also granted for the construction of 839 houses under the New Pakistan Housing Scheme in various districts.
