ISLAMABAD: The Islamabad administration on Saturday blocked all entry points of the federal capital and closed all kinds of transport ahead of Pakistan Tehreeek-e-Insaf planned protest match.
Containers were placed at 33 different points, including on Rawat T-Chowk, IJP Road, carriage factory, Mandra and Taxila to block access to the capital.
As per the details, the Red Zone was sealed and containers were placed at all routes. Key routes, including Murree Road, have been closed, with containers placed at 26 Number Chungi to stop PTI workers from entering Islamabad.
Similarly, Srinagar Highway has been shut for entry into Islamabad, while Sector I-8, IJP Road, and the Golra Mor flyover and underpass are also inaccessible.
The Rawalpindi administration also closed the Pir Wadhai and Faizabad bus stations for two days.
A day earlier, the Punjab government had imposed section 144 in the province for three days, banning public gatherings and rallies.
Similarly, different sections of the motorway M-1, M-2, M-3, and M-4, and roads connecting the federal capital to different parts of the Punjab were also closed on the orders of the provincial government.
Over 1000 workers including PTI Punjab VP arrested
Meanwhile, Lahore police arrested PTI Punjab Vice President (VP) Akmal Khan Bari and another PTI leader Chaudhry Habibur Rehman, and shifted them to the Rang Mahal police station.
Besides that, the Force also took over 1,000 active party workers into custody from different parts of the provincial capital.
Police officials said workers had been taken into custody because they were involved in different cases of vandalism and arson.
