ISLAMABAD: The three-day Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) protest in Islamabad proved costly for the capital’s police, with expenses exceeding Rs332.8 million, according to police sources.
To seal off 24 locations in the federal capital, over 800 containers were deployed, incurring costs of Rs72.8 million. These containers remain on the roadsides, continuing to add to the overall expenses.
During the protest, Islamabad Police arranged 35,000 tear gas shells, with Rs150 million worth of shells used in just three days. Additionally, Rs110 million was spent on rubber bullets and 2,500 guns.
It is important to note that these figures exclude expenses incurred in Rawalpindi and other related costs.
The ongoing presence of containers and the scale of resources used reflect the significant financial burden faced by law enforcement during large-scale protests in the capital.
