ISLAMABAD: Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) has reportedly decided that February 8 will be observed as a Black Day across the country, following the directives from party founder Imran Khan.
Black Day will observed on the first anniversary of the general elections, which PTI, the main opposition party in the parliament, claims were rigged.
As per media reports, the former prime minister, who has been incarcerated in Adiala Jail for more than a year, has instructed his party MNAs and MPAs to hold demonstrations in their respective constituencies, demanding an inquiry into the 2024 general elections.
Imran Khan has also ordered party leaders to take other opposition parties and leaders, including Shahid Khaqan Abbasi, into confidence regarding the planned demonstrations. He also issued instructions to refrain from making statements against JUI-F chief Fazlur Rehman.
During the meeting with his legal team in Adiala Jail on Wednesday, Imran Khan expressed dissatisfaction with the performance of the party’s Information Secretary Sheikh Waqas Akram, stressing discipline within the party.
It is pertinent to mention here that PTI-backed independent candidates competed in the general elections on February 8, 2024, which they claimed were rigged to steal the mandate of Imran Khan-founder Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI).
The claim was rejected by the then-caretaker administration, which conducted the polls.
