ISLAMABAD: Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) has formed a nine-member membership committee under the Chairmanship of the former president and party’s founding member Dr. Arif Alvi.
Additional Secretary General Firdous Shamim Naqvi issued a notification on Monday with the approval of Secretary-General Salman Akram Raja.
“The nominations from the provinces would be announced within one week of this notification,” it read.
The membership committee includes Dr. Arif Alvi, Firdous Naqvi, Moonis Elahi, Khalid Khurshid, Dr Suleiman Khan, Numan Afzal, Jibran Ilyas, and Salman Amjad.
The committee will also include one representative from each province, the President, or his nominee.
In another development, the Imran Khan-founded party has also notified the formation of a 13-member Central Finance Board (CFB) and Terms of Reference (TOR).
According to the notification issued on Monday, the finance board will be headed by the secretary general and comprised of an additional secretary general, and the President Overseas Pakistan Sajjad Burki.
Other members include Secretary Finance Siraj Ahmed, all General Secretary from provinces, the CFO of PTI, Sardar Azhar Tariq, and Mohammad Iqbal (Europe).
Former MNA from KPK Sajida Khan, former MPA Sindh Samar Ali Khan, MNA Adil Bazai, Khadijah Shah, and Irfan Mustafa (Middle East) are also named on the finance board.
The Central Finance Board (CFB) will be the main body to address the financial affairs of the party. “The terms of reference will be reviewed with the Finance Secretary of PTI Mr. Siraj member CFB also to address areas not addressed,” the notification read.
The CFB will be responsible for the following tasks;
- Fulfilling all regulatory obligations as called out in the ECP Rules or those of FBR which are applicable to Political Parties or trusts run by the party
- It shall be responsible for maintaining the accounts of the party in a professional manner
- It shall be responsible for also getting the accounts audited by the appointed auditor periodically as per the rules
- It shall be responsible for coordinating with all to raise the funds of the party and also to account for them
- The CFB would be responsible for approving the expenditures of the party as per budget or in case of emergency approving the funds through resolution
- The CFB will maintain records of such approvals in a formal way
- The CFB will appoint professionals where needed to assist the CFB in carrying out its duty
- The CFB will present the monthly accounts by the Tenth of the month for the previous month
- The CFB would prepare the annual budget by June 15th and get the same approved from the Political Committee.
- The CFB would also then prepare a rolling forecast for the quarter
- The CFB would not be allowed to incur any expenditure for which it does not have funds without the approval of the SG and the Chairman.
- The CFB would be responsible for making plans to raise funds for the party from the members of the party as well as the supporters
- The fundraising should be through all available means to meet the party expenditures and the same has to be monitored vigorously.
