PESHAWAR: The All-Parties Conference on the law-and-order situation in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa has begun at the Governor House Peshawar.
The APC is being chaired and hosted by Governor Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Faisal Karim Kundi attended by leaders of various political parties. The ruling party PTI, however, is not present at the very important conference.
Quami Wattan Party Chief Aftab Sherpao, Awami National Party provincial president Main Iftikhar Hussain, Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz provincial president Engineer Amir Muqam, and JUI-F leader Maulana Lutfur Rehman are participating in the conference.
JI senior leader Professor Ibrahim and former member of the National Assembly Mohsin Dawar are present in the APC.
The leadership of the PTI is not present at the APC. In this regard, the PTI leaders had already made it clear that they would not participate in the conference.
The ruling party had refused to participate in the APP saying the PPP has no mandate in KP. It [PPP] wants to hold a lifeless exhibitory meeting to portray itself as a democratic party, PTI said in a statement issued a day before the APC.
Meanwhile, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Information Adviser Barrister Saif strongly criticised political parties attending APC, saying that people who were rejected by the public gathered for the conference.
In a statement, Saif termed the APC a failed attempt to make a narrative against the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) as well as point-scoring. He said that calling an APC was the mandate of an elected government, not the governor.
“The Governor should help KP get back its dues from the federal government instead of calling an APC. He shouldn’t try to act as the chief executive of the province,” it added.
