Power tariff in Karachi raised by Rs5.75

The National Electric Power Regulatory Authority (NEPRA) on Wednesday sanctioned a significant Rs5.75 per unit increase in electricity rates for K-Electric consumers.

This Rs5.75 per unit hike stems from the monthly fuel price adjustment (FPA) for May.

Moreover, in May, electricity tariffs will rise by Rs2.59 per unit, with an additional Rs3.16 per unit increase for June, both of which will be reflected in the electricity bills for October and November.

The regulatory body confirmed that this price increase will affect all lifeline customers, including electric vehicle users, impacting a broad range of consumers in the city.

The authority noted that these adjustments are necessary to match the fluctuating fuel costs involved in power generation.
