ISLAMABAD: Polio cases in Pakistan jumped to 55 in the current year after three more cases surfaced on Friday.
This figure has more than doubled when compared to cases reported during the past two years.
The latest three polio cases were reported in Balochistan and Khyber Pakhtunkhwa provinces
The last cases have emerged in Zhob, and Jaffarabad district of Balochistan, and Dera Ismail Khan, the hometown of the KP Chief Minister, Ali Amin Gandapur.
These new cases bring the total count in Dera Ismail Khan to six cases while Zhob has recorded three and Jaffarabad reported two this year. according to the returning figures of the End Polio Programme.
A provincial breakdown reveals that Balochistan, out of these 55 cases, reported 26 cases. fourteen cases were reported 14 in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, 13 in Sindh, and one each in Punjab and Islamabad.
