KARACHI: The Karachi administration on Monday imposed section 144 in District Central from December 9 to 10 with immediate effect, banning pillion riding and all kinds of public gatherings, including protests, demonstrations, and rallies.
Karachi Commissioner issued the notification on the request of the Additional Inspector General (AIG) Karachi.
According to the notification, “AIG of Karachi Police, vide letter, informed that miscreant and disgruntled elements may disturb the peace and tranquillity and can create law and order situation in District Central”.
Following the request of Karachi police, the metropolis administration under section 144 Cr.PC banned the assembly of more than four persons and pillion riding for two days to prevent any untoward situation.
“I, Syed Hassan Naqvi, Commissioner Karachi Division, do hereby impose a complete ban on Pillion Riding and protests, demonstrations, rallies, and assembly of more than four (04) persons to the extent of District Central Karachi Division for a period of two (02) days i.e. 09.12.2024 and 10.12.2024, with immediate effect.”
Following the order, the Station House Officers (SHOs) of concerned Police Stations have been authorised to take action against violators of Section 144 restrictions.
