LAHORE: The Punjab Food Authority (PFA) has initiated legal action against a beverage manufacturing unit following allegations of adulteration, lodging a case with the concerned police station.
In addition to legal proceedings, the authority seized a significant quantity of illicit substances, including 700 litres of counterfeit juice, 107 kilograms of expired flavourings, and manufacturing equipment.
PFA Director General Asim Javaid, addressing the media, disclosed that a team conducted a raid on a juice plant located along Kasur Road, apprehending operators in the act of producing tainted juices of various flavors.
Highlighting the outcomes of the operation, DG Javaid underscored the discovery of substandard juice samples during screening tests, leading to the confiscation of the adulterated products.

Further investigation revealed concerning indicators such as low brix levels, artificial sweeteners, and fraudulent labeling practices.
It was disclosed that the spurious beverages were intended for distribution to local retailers at discounted rates. However, the timely intervention of the raiding team thwarted these illicit endeavors, acting on a tip-off.
In a separate enforcement action, the PFA’s team imposed a fine of Rs200,000 on a bakery production facility situated at Hamdard Chowk, Industrial Area, for breaching Punjab Pure Food Regulations.
