Pakistani mountaineer, Asad Memon has summited the highest peak in Mount Vinson, Antarctica.
“We are so proud to share the incredible achievement of our alumnus, @asadmnpak , who has successfully summited Mt. Vinson in Antarctica!”, Asad posted on Instagram.
The post added: “With this remarkable feat, he has now conquered 6 of the 7 highest peaks on each continent, showcasing unparalleled determination and resilience.”
Mount Vinson stands at an impressive 16,050 feet (4,892 meters) above sea level, making it Antarctica’s highest summit. One of the most difficult mountains to climb, it is famous for its extremely low temperatures, strong winds, and secluded setting.
Memon has climbed the highest mountain on every continent six times. He intends to tackle Puncak Jaya in Indonesia, his last remaining obstacle, next.
Memon has ascended five continents’ highest mountains: Africa’s Kilimanjaro, Europe’s Elbrus, South America’s Aconcagua, North America’s Denali, and Asia’s Mount Everest. He was born in the Pakistani city of Larkana in the Sindh province. He has demonstrated perseverance, self-control, and endurance on each ascent.
Back in 2023, he successfully summited the world’s highest mountain but dislocated his hand while descending. At the time, he became the first person from Sindh to scale Mount Everest.
