The Ministry of Overseas Pakistanis and Human Resource Development (OP&HRD) has announced plans to open a new branch of the Pakistan International School in Muscat, Oman, to provide high-quality education for the children of Pakistani expatriates, as reported by APP.

An official source, speaking to APP on Wednesday, highlighted that overseas Pakistanis represent a crucial asset to the country. The government is committed to offering them every possible facility, recognising their vital role in Pakistan’s development and prosperity.

The official underscored the significant contribution of expatriates to the national economy, describing their remittances as the backbone of financial stability. Due to favorable policies enacted by the current administration, remittances are steadily increasing, helping to ease inflationary pressures within Pakistan.

During a recent visit to Oman, the Federal Minister for Overseas Pakistanis signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the Omani government. The agreement aims to enhance support for Pakistani workers in Oman, stressing the popularity of the Pakistani workforce globally due to its diligence and competence.

Upgrading workforce training and pre-departure education

In a bid to strengthen the country’s workforce, the ministry is modernising technical training centers across Pakistan to align with the certification requirements of various regions. This effort is expected to elevate the skills of Pakistani laborers, making them even more competitive in the global job market.

Furthermore, the ministry plans to introduce a mandatory pre-departure orientation program for all Pakistani workers heading abroad. The programme will educate them on the labour laws of host countries, their rights and duties as workers, cultural sensitivities, and available reprieve mechanisms in case of emergencies during their stay overseas.
