Following a dip in diesel prices, the Pakistan Railways Department has decided to slash train fares across various classes. An official notification has been released, announcing the immediate enforcement of reduced fares.

Passengers traveling shorter distances, spanning from one to 200 kilometers, will benefit from reduced fares across all classes of trains. The economy and AC classes saw substantial reductions in ticket prices.

As per the notification, economy class fares on specific routes have been reduced by as much as 54 percent. For instance, the minimum fare for the Lahore to Rawalpindi route has been decreased by Rs. 150, bringing it down to just 100 rupees.

Moreover, fares for the Khyber Mail route, spanning distances from 1km to 130km, have been adjusted to Rs100 from Rs250 by Pakistan railways. Meanwhile, passengers traveling in AC class will experience fare reductions of up to 40% across different routes.
