WEB DESK: After a long period of strained ties, relations between Pakistan and Bangladesh are witnessing a positive shift.

The ousting of Indian puppet Sheikh Hasina’s government through a public revolution on August 5 and the establishment of an interim government is seen as a significant blow to India.

Trade and direct air travel between Pakistan and Bangladesh had been suspended for years. However, Bangladesh’s Deputy High Commissioner, SM Mahbub Alam, recently announced that Direct flights between the two countries will resume, which will enhance trade relations.

“An exhibition for importers and exporters of both countries will be organized in collaboration with the Hyderabad Chamber of Small Traders and Small Industries.”

The Bangladeshi Deputy High Commissioner has also invited Pakistan’s business community to participate in a trade exhibition to be held in Dhaka in January 2025,

“Bangladesh exports its products to 80 countries and needs to further strengthen trade relations with Pakistan.”

Muhammad Saleem Memon, President of the Hyderabad Chamber of Commerce, highlighted the significant progress in trade relations between the two countries.

On this occasion, he mentioned the first direct cargo shipment from Pakistan to Bangladesh on November 11 and encouraged Bangladeshi traders to participate in exhibitions in Pakistan.

“There is a need to encourage Pakistani traders to actively participate in Bangladesh’s trade exhibitions,” he added.

Muhammad Saleem Memon also pointed out the customs clearance challenges faced by Pakistani exporters in Dhaka and emphasised the need for their immediate resolution.

Economic experts believe that improved relations between Pakistan and Bangladesh will increase trade volume between the two countries.

Direct flights from Pakistan to Bangladesh will enable the business communities of both nations to expand their operations.
