ISLAMABAD: Atomic Energy Cancer Hospital (AECH) NORI on Tuesday hosted a Regional Training Course in collaboration with the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA).
The inauguration of the course was held here at NORI, Islamabad.
Director NORI Dr Mohammad Faheem welcomed the participants and the dignitaries, whereas, Director General Nuclear Medicine and Oncology Dr Shazia Fatima Pakistan Atomic Energy Commission (PAEC) graced the ceremony as the chief guest.
An interactive session with Consultant Radiation Oncologist, Head of Oncology and Radiology Department Dr Humera Mahmood was held during the ceremony. The session covered several aspects of radiotherapy treatment, and provided a platform to all the participants to barter their insights and expertise.
Meanwhile, the Project Coordinator Dr Kashif Iqbal, Consultant Radiation Oncologist also gave an overview about Radiation Treatment and its several aspects. He also explained the workflow of Radiation Treatment.

This was followed by two more sessions conducted by the Medical Physicists Ms Sajida Parveen and Ms Nazia Shehzadi, both serving as Principal Physicists.
Furthermore, the event featured international delegates from twelve countries alongside participants from various regions across the country.
Atomic Energy Cancer Hospital (AECH) NORI maintains a strong affiliation with the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) and has played a pivotal role in various collaborative initiatives. As a testament to its contributions, AECH NORI has been designated as an IAEA Anchor Centre under the agency’s Rays of Hope initiative.
The five-day educational programme includes a different range of clinical and practical aspects of radiotherapy. Renowned technical experts from across the country will deliver informative lectures and will share their experience and knowledge. The course is scheduled to conclude on December 13.
