ISLAMABAD: In a good for Pakistanis going abroad for employment, the National Logistics Corporation (NLC) has inaugurated the international standard driving training school at the Driving School of NLC in Dina, a city in Jhelum district.

NLC said that the NLC Driving School in Dina has become an Associate Training Institute (ATI) of the International Road Transport Union (IRU) Academy Switzerland.

IRU Academy is the training arm of IRU and through a network of more than forty Associate Training Institutes (ATI) across the globe, it trains drivers with contemporary knowledge and skills and certifies thousands of transport professionals every year to improve safety, efficiency, and sustainability.

The development came as good news for a number of Pakistanis, who go abroad to become a driver, especially in the Gulf countries.

With the acquisition of Associate Training Institute status by NLC Driving School Dina, the LTV/HTV drivers will be given an Internationally recognized and hologram-protected IRU Academy Certificate.

It will also give drivers online access to IRU Academy certificates and increase their acceptance to potential employers or clients, particularly at the international level, the NLC said.

Due to the lack of internationally recognized certification, existing drivers of Pakistan fail to fit for overseas employment.

In this regard, the NLC instructed all those drivers who intend to seek overseas employment to obtain the “IRU Crash Prevention and Defensive Driving Certification” to maximize the chances of overseas employment not only in the Middle East but also in the European market.
