The NDMA Emergencies Operation Center has forecasted that rising glacier melt, high temperatures, and intermittent rains will likely trigger glacial lake outburst floods (GLOFs), landslides, and flash floods in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and Gilgit-Baltistan until Tuesday.

The NDMA warned that the situation could lead to localized flash flooding, potentially affecting temporary bridges and road connections in upstream areas.

The NDMA has instructed the Provincial Disaster Management Authority (PDMA) KP, Gilgit-Baltistan Disaster Management Authority (GBDMA), and local officials to monitor the situation closely. They should identify vulnerable populations and be prepared to evacuate them to safety if flood levels rise.

The public is urged to stay alert and adhere to guidance from local authorities. The NDMA recommends downloading the ‘Pak NDMA Disaster Alert’ app for real-time updates and to monitor weather conditions. Travelers should avoid unnecessary trips to reduce the risk during potential flooding.
